I went to an LSS (local scrapbook store) today. It wasn’t so local, it was over in Palm Harbor but I went there to meet a friend I met on a MB (message board). When RR first opened, we all went and were awed. It was so beautiful and filled with everything a scrapper could ever want. Each time we went back (usually a year in between visits), the store got more crowded but was still filled with such lovely goodness.
Today I was disappointed. There was too much stuff. Every square inch was filled with stuff. And some of it was old stock. Stuff I clearanced out over a year ago. I know they have sales but I don’t think they do much clearancing unless it’s a whole manufacturer such as what they are doing with Lil’ Davis and Chatterbox. Sure, somethings should stick around, they are classics. But others…I mean I got rid of that in my own stash over a year ago and I probably had it 1 or 2 years prior to that. I think it was because the place was SO crowded and there wasn’t anything amazing to see.
They were unpacking the Martha Stewart products while we were there. It was only available to Elite stores who buy a ton of stuff from EK. They had to use the MS display. It looked like Kmart display, ugly white metal. And it looked so out of place in a store that more resembles Pottery Barn. But when you are Martha, you can call the shots. I think it will look strange with the MS stuff neatly organized on these ugly displays (according to the plan-o-gram) and everything else shoved more tightly to make room for her highness. And when I asked the salewomen what they thought of the merchandise? They just shrugged.
