I managed some restraint today!

Thursday, March 27th, 2008

OK, now don’t count the money I spent on the lens. I already confessed that sin. I was at The Home Depot to get some fertilizer for my palms and picked up a pygmy date palm and put it in my cart. Then I walked around oohing and ahhing over all the gorgeous plants I wanted to take home. I knew that they were be lucky if they got planted before they wilted and died and if they did make it in the ground, they would probably die of thirst.

This happens to be our dry time of the year. And though we have been getting some good rain, it’s not enough to make a new plant thrive. No, they need daily water. Now I could turn on my sprinklers but I haven’t gotten them fixed after my neighbors slow leaked caused untold erosion and undermined my system. Things have had a chance to settle but being the procrastinator that I am, I haven’t called anyone.

So instead of paying $4.99 for a plant that probably would die at my home, I put it back until I take care of the water issue first. Then I went to Baskin Robbins for a single cone which cost $2.56. For one scoop. And one cone.

I need to be banned from eBay.

Twice I have bid on lenses and won. I really don’t have the money to spend on this stuff.

But I sure enjoy them when I get them.

Sonic boom?

Wednesday, March 26th, 2008

A little after 8:30 this evening, the was a big double boom and the house rattled. A sonic boom? I didn’t think much of it. Twenty minutes goes by and I realize I haven’t heard or seen Andy. Oh god! Could that noise have been him crashing his bunk beds over or a dresser and he is lying unconscious? A brief panic ensued and I went to check in on him. He was watching gluse on YouTube.

Go ahead, check out the link. This little nerd takes endless videos of elevators and my kid loves them. oy.

I think it’s time…

I think it may be time to start this blog again. I’ve been writing in my journal but sometimes it’s not enough. OK, I really just miss Cheryl. She may not have time to call (I am not much better) but she has time to check this out and leave a witty and insightful comment.
